Two brothers with an extraordinary bond
Legend, age 7, was born with Down syndrome and is non-verbal. He requires support for mobility and receives his nutrition through a G-tube. Despite his challenges, Legend is a bright and resilient child who continues to make steady progress.
Nikolaas, age 10, lives with multiple developmental and physical disabilities and is also non-verbal. He relies on specialized care, adaptive equipment, and daily support to thrive.
The boys were originally adopted by their first foster parent, who cared deeply for them. Sadly, due to serious health issues, that parent was no longer able to continue their care. The Department of Children and Family Services were able to find a new foster home that welcomed both children together.
Nikolaas and Legend have spent their entire lives side by side. Although they do not communicate verbally, their bond is undeniable. They seek each other’s presence, find comfort in staying close, and share a unique connection that brings stability and joy to their lives.
